CHARLESTON — A bill was introduced in the House on Friday capping the salary of all attorneys that aren’t licensed to practice law in the state when hired, at $100,000 per year. House Bill 2788 would apply to all state agencies.

Delegate Justin Marcum (D-Mingo, Logan), one of the co-sponsor on the bill, hopes this will deter outside hiring.

“This bill is important to the state of West Virginia because it will encourage our state agencies to look for qualified lawyers in our state. West Virginia is home to many qualified lawyers, we need to look here first, before we start hiring lawyers from out of state,” Marcum said.

Delegate Doug Reynolds (D-Cabell) is the lead sponsor on the bill. Along with Marcum, Delegates Tiffany Lawrence (D-Jefferson), Stephen Skinner (D-Jefferson), Josh Stowers (D-Lincoln), Isaac Sponaugle (D-Pendleton), Doug Skaff (D-Kanawha), Barbara Fleischauer (D-Monongalia), Denise Campbell (D-Randolph), Nancy Guthrie (D-Kanawha), and David Walker (D-Clay) are co-sponsors.

Mr. Marcum: If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Been reading about you for awhile---sure would like to have a couple of joints of whatever you're smoking. You're a young man with a future---think about some of these positions you're taking---they won't go away, and will surely haunt you and limit your future political progress. Have you noticed how the GOP, the dying GOP, keeps trying to change the rules because the people have turned on them and rejected their inane positions. It would surely be better to reshape the GOP to more closely reflect the mindset of the American people. Goes for you too lad. ASHLEY JUDD (DEM-KY) 2014!

Dear Mr. Morrisey:

Hiding behind the name bhat won't work anymore for you any more. Hiring unlicensed GOP hatchet men and pretending they're lawyers won't work anymore either. Paying some whackjob wingnut over $10,000.00 a month to preside over your Office of Fudderalism so that they can go off on Republican hate crusades on issues that have nothing to do with West Virginia is going to get you exported -or extradited- back to New Jersey. Delegate Marcum leads a clean life and unlike you he represents the people of West Virginia and is loyal to them. He's not a Karl Rove bootlicker like you are. The only person whose future political progress is about to come to an end is the midget troll from New Jersey. We have a nickname for him. Its "short timer Morrisey." The odds are overwhelming that Midget Morrisey won't make it through his first term. No one will need to set him up because he's working overtime to set himself up. Delegate Marcum believes in honest government. I know him. I also have seen your kind come and go, usually being frog marched to a prison bus. So take your fairy tales and all of your New Jersey garbage and place them in an area where the sun doesn't shine. You'll have to move your head to fit it all in. We've had enough of the clown from New Jersey and quite frankly, we'd like to see an honest lawyer and public servant like Justin take your place. So, let me be the first to say: "Time to Recall the Midget from New Jersey" and "Justin Marcum for Attorney General!"
