Staff Report

The Mingo Central volleyball team had a good showing in the regional tournament. The Lady Miners just missed a getting a spot in the Class AA state tournament.

The Lady Miners played Tolsia at Chapmanville. They were in the losing bracket, but beat the Lady Rebels.

Tolsia won the first match, 25-19, MCHS the second match 26-24. In third match Tolsia won 25-22, while the next two games went to Mingo Central 25-19 and 15-13.

Then they played Chapmanville, still in the loser’s bracket (because Chapmanville had lost to Wayne). The first game, the Lady Miners won, 25-23. In the second game, MCHS won, 25-18, and in the third match, 25-20.

This placed us in the championship game against Wayne.

Mingo Central took on a tough Wayne. Lady Pioneer team. In the first game, Wayne won 18-25. In the second game, Wayne won 18-25 and in the third and final game, Wayne won again, 25-16.

Mingo Central played Nicholas County, the top seeded team in the regional tourney. Nicholas County won and will advance to the state tournament.

The scores of that match were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-7 for a Nicholas County victory.

The Lady Miners will return several players next season.
