NAUGAUTCK – Tug Valley (2-1), coming off a nice 34-28 win over Mt. View last week, will host Twin Valley, Va. Friday night.
The Panthers only loss came at the hands of Meadow Bridge on the road in week two. Coach Tony Clusky’s team has had a very balanced offense.
Let by senior quarterback Mikey Newsome, Tug Valley has been able to mix the pass and the run. Seniors back Aaron Muncy, senior tight end Corey Dillon, as well as juniors Jesse Mays and David Runyon are also a big part of the Panther offense.
Newsome has completed 17-for-37 passes for 46 percent, 319 yards, four TDs and one interception.
Mays has 43 carries for 227 yards for 5.3 yards per carry, Muncy 29 totes for 144 yards and Runyon 23 carries for 66 yards.
Linebackers Isaac Parsley and Myran Copley, along with Mays and Thomas Baisden lead the defense. Parsley lead the team with 28 tackles and has a sack, while Baisden has 23 tackles. Freshman Philip Lucas has nine tackles and a couple of fumble recoveries.
