GOODY, Ky. — Due to a previous bought of rainy weather that prevented the Tug Valley Shrine Club from holding their sixth annual Poker Run two weekends ago, the date has now been changed to Saturday, Oct. 20.

The Poker Run is scheduled to depart from the parking lot of the Southside Mall at 12:30 p.m., with registration scheduled from 10 a.m. until noon. The entry fee is $10 for the rider and an additional $5 if they have a passenger. The ride will consist of a scenic back roads trip with the destination being Whitesville, in Boone County. After a short break, the riders will head back to the Southside Mall.

Musical entertainment will be provided for the event and prizes will be given away to the first rider to register for the ride, the oldest rider, the first female rider to register, the rider who travels the farthest to attend the event and the Best Bike award, which will be chose by the fans and spectators. Event t-shirts will be available for $10 and door prizes will also be up for grabs.

The poker run helps raise funding necessary to provide transportation for children in the Tug Valley area to the Shriner’s Hospitals in Lexington, Ky. and Cincinnati, Ohio, where medical treatment is provided at no charge to the patient. All money collected from the poker run proceeds will go to the Tug Valley Shrine Club.

For more information on the ride, you may contact Benny Sawyers at 304-475-3556 or Bob Preece at 304-475-4580.

Gotta watch out for those "boughts" of rainy weather. Think you mean bouts, Rachel.

wish I could be there for those awards, which will be "chose" by fans and specators. "chosen"

I am reminded of a quote from George Bernard Shaw, "I had to interrupt my education at an early age when my parents forced me to enroll in public school".
