WILLIAMSON — The Williamson Police Department, with the assistance of the West Virginia State Police, investigated an armed robbery at the Sycamore Inn in Williamson Tuesday.
Adam Wicker, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., was arrested, after the West Virginia State Police Detachment performed a routine traffic stop on the vehicle in Holden, approximately two hours after the robbery.
Williamson Police Department was dispatched to the motel at noon that day. Police explained that the robber went into the office of the motel, showed the clerk a semiautomatic pistol and told her to open the cash register.
The robber took the cash, totaling roughly $215 and then fled the scene in a silver Cadillac with a defective headlight on the driver’s side.
Surveillance videos recorded the entire robbery, assisting police in gaining further description of the robber. Police were able to release the description of a white male with a reddish mustache in his early 20s, 5’9 feet tall with a thin build, wearing a white wind breaker with a large elephant on the back.
Although Wicker resides in South Carolina, police believe he has family ties in the Varney area.
He was arrested for armed robbery and two counts of wanton endangerment. He was then transported to Southwestern Regional Jail.
