A Dingess man was arrested yesterday after allegedly beating a woman and holding her captive.
Landon Baisden III was arrested yesterday evening by the Sgt. Joe Smith and Sgt. James Muncy with the Mingo County Sheriffs Department. The criminal complaint filed in Magistrate Court stated Baisden allegedly grabbed Arizona Marie Murphy “around the neck and choked her until blood filled the white of her eyes.”
Murphy escaped the residence and fled to the yard. Baisden caught her and dragged her back into the residence.
He then supposedly beat the victim leaving bruises and scratches on her body. He refused to let Murphy leave the residence, placing a sofa in front of the door and then laid down on the piece of furniture.
Eventually Baisden fell asleep and Murphy was able to escape.
Baisden is charged with kidnapping and malicious wounding. He was arraigned in front of Magistrate Pam Newsome and remanded to the Southwestern Regional Jail for bond to be set by Circuit Court Judge Michael Thornsbury.
