INEZ, Ky. – A 21-year-old Louisa, Ky., man was arrested in Martin County on Nov. 20 on a charge of giving an officer a false name or address and wound up in custody on five other offenses.

A report by Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Tipton stated that the suspect had given him the name of Bradly Bunyard and a birth date of Feb. 24, 1987 when the officer requested the information in order to check for warrants.

It developed that the man’s name is Scott B. Bunyard, whose birth date is Mar. 8, 1988. Bunyard was served six bench warrants by Tipton on the following charges:

Drug paraphernalia law, buy, possession (second offense); possession of a controlled substance, second degree (drug unspecified), first offense; possession of marijuana; giving an officer a false name or address, having prescription controlled substance not in proper container (second offense), and public intoxication from a controlled substance, excluding alcohol.

Bunyard was arrested by Tipton at 6:25 p.m. on Nov. 20 on Ky. 292. The first four violations occurred on Sept. 8, 2009, according to the officer’s report, and the latter two took place on the date of his arrest.

Sheriff Garmon Preece arrested Hellen Smith, 48, of Tomahawk, Ky., on Nov. 29 in the Family Food parking lot. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a drug (second offense); and two other counts, driving while license was suspended for DUI and having a prescription controlled substance not in proper container (first offenses).

Sheriff Preece’s report said he was dispatched to the Family Food store and found Mrs. Smith in the driver’s seat of her Chevrolet pickup with Deputy Chris Todd at the scene. She was reported to have slurred speech and a quantity of different types of pills, and failed sobriety tests at the scene.

Earl Jude, 41, of Milo Road at Inez was arrested Nov. 22 at 3:23 a.m. at No. 2 Kirk Plaza on a bench warrant charging him with possession of a controlled substance, first degree (drug unspecified). This was a first offense. Deputy Tipton executed a warrant of arrest on Jude.

Twenty-six-year-old Joetta G. Marcum of Louisa, Ky., was taken into custody at 6:50 p.m. Nov. 22 in Inez by Martin Sheriff’s Deputy J. Todd. She was charged in a bench warrant with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, etc. (first offense).

A Warfield man identified as Burley R. Muncy, 48, was arrested by Sheriff Preece on Nov. 21 at 12:36 p.m. on a charge of theft by unlawful taking or shoplifting.

The sheriff’s report stated he was dispatched to the Warfield Shop-Rite to investigate a report of a suspected shoplifter. He said he found Muncy in the back of the store with two store managers, one of whom said two employees had seen Muncy put a can of coffee in his jeans.

Preece said he was told by Muncy that he needed coffee and had no money to pay for it. (The coffee was priced at $3.39).
