NEWTOWN – The Lady Skyhawks of Scott High School breezed by the Lady Miners of Mingo Central 58-48 Thursday night at the MCHS gym.

The game was a Cardinal Conference matchup between the two Class AA schools.

Mingo got behind 19-6 after one quarter and outscored Scott 13-10 in the second period. They played the Lady Skyhawks even in the second half, but could not overcome the lead by the visitors.

Jamie Dotson led Scott with 21 points, while Ali Whitman had 11, Andrea Rankin 10 and Landyn McKinney added 10 in a balanced scoring attack by the Lady Skyhawks.

Senior guard Chrissy Farmer led Mingo Central with 18 points, while sophomore center Ashley Curry banked in 17.

The Lady Miners are now 4-7 on the season and will travel to Lincoln County on Friday night.

Scott was 19-31 at the free throw line for 61 percent, while Mingo Central was for 70 percent.
