PIKEVILLE, Ky. - An Aflex man has been arrested for murder of his wife after authorities found a body buried in a shallow grave.

Bruce Dillon, 52, was arrested Friday and charged with murder-domestic violence and abuse of a corpse.

The victim is believed to be his wife, Sherry, 44, who has been missing for a month.

Sherry’s family contacted the Kentucky State Police July 16, and said she had not been seen since July 7, near her residence at Aflex. The KSP issued a missing person alert Aug. 3.

Bruce was an employee of the Williamson Park Board, working at the Williamson Field House and other city facilities for more than 30 years.

Peirce Whitt, Director of the Park Board, said he never had any problems with Bruce as an employee.

“I just didn’t see that coming,” Whitt said. “I would never have guessed that, or thought it. He started working for the Board in 1979, and came on full time in 1981. We kept him around, he did his job.”

Bruce was scheduled to be arraigned at the Pike County Detention Center yesterday morning.

The body has been the sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy and for positive identification.
