A four-day holiday begins with the Thanksgiving Day observance Thursday for employees in the Mingo County Court House, Memorial Building and other public agencies.

Offices of the courthouse and those in Mingo County Magistrate Court, County Health Department and Williamson Public Library will reopen Monday.

Most banks and U.S. post offices also will be closed during the weekend and schools in Mingo, Logan, Pike and Martin counties will remain closed until Monday.

Williamson’s annual post-Thanksgiving parade is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police and fire departments in Williamson and elsewhere in the area will have personnel on duty throughout the weekend, along with other emergency personnel.

Many churches have late services set for tonight on the eve of Thanksgiving with special programs.
