SOUTH WILLIAM-SON, KY – Ventilation problems are being blamed for a fire scare Tuesday morning at a local hospital.
The South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital experienced experienced a small isolated electrical concern from an exhaust fan in the vending area.
After investigation, it appears a light ballast and the exhaust fan caused some smoking and will have to be replaced.
According to Tim Hatfield with ARH, the hospital’s maintenance team and the Turkey Creek Volunteer Fire Department found the problem and quickly resolved the situation.
A spokesperson for the TCVFD said smoke was reported and a thermal imaging camera was used to find the source of the smoke.
Both Hatfield and the department said no patients were in any danger, and no services were interrupted due to the incident.
“I would like to commend our local maintenance team and our Turkey Creek Fire Department for their quick actions,” Hatfield said.
