American Electric Power communication managers Phil Moye (right) and Jeri Matheney recently visited Williamson in a hybrid they borrowed from columbus to show AEP customers a coal-fueled car of sorts. This 2008 Toyota Prius is a hybrid which costs 40 cents to go 40 miles, at which time the driver plugs the car into an electrical outlet and charges the massive $10,000 battery, resting in the truck of the car, preparing for another 40 miles. When the vehicle hits a mountain, or steep grade, the car kicks over to gasoline and then back to electric when plausible.
