DELBARTON — Students at Burch Elementary School had a chance to take a tour of the world without leaving school during multi-cultural days at the school.
BEM Principal Doug Ward explained the students each received a “passport,” which allowed them to visit “countries” that were featured in different classrooms.
Students and teachers wore costumes, played music and sampled food from the country they were studying.
Technology allowed students in Teresa May’s kindergarten class to talk via Facetime with employees of El Azul Grande Mexican restaurant to learn about Mexican culture.
“This has been great,” Principal Ward said. “We live in an area without a lot of diversity, and its nice that our kids can experience different cultures.”
He said Burch Elementary teachers have done “a tremendous job” with multi-cultural event.
