The Williamson Fire Department received a fire call around 2:37 a.m. Saturday morning for a house in West Williamson.

According to Williamson Fire Chief Jerry Mounts, the residence was completely engulfed in flames when crews arrived on scene.

"There was nothing to save," said Mounts. "Even a four-door SUV parked in the driveway was fully engulfed in fire."

The Williamson Fire Department responded with two engine companies, one truck company, once incident command vehicle and 15 fire fighters. Although the residence was a total loss, fire crews positioned three hand-lines in service to control the heat, protect exposure and to effect suppression.

The residence, located at 33 North Sunset Drive in West Williamson, is owned by Michael and Jeannie Brewster. The structure was one of the most unique in Williamson, built in the 1970s in an octagon shape.

The house had already suffered heavy damage from a previous fire on Nov. 20. Cleanup specialists were scheduled to begin work on Nov. 30. Officials stated the original fire began in the laundry room as a result of an electric space heater igniting combustible materials.

Mounts explained that this weekend's fire has been determined incendiary in nature since utilities in the structure were not operational at the time because of the previous fire.

Mounts also reported that a neighbor reported driving by the residence 15 minutes prior to the fire and stated that everything was fine.

"For a structure that size to be so heavily involved with fire from the farthest reaches of the exterior decking to the automobile parked in the driveway in a matter of minutes there had to be some sort of fast moving accelerant involved," said Mounts.

The Williamson Fire Department is asking that anyone who witnessed any individuals around the structure during the time of the fire or have any information to contact them at 304-235-5273.
