GOODY, Ky. – The Belfry Pirates will hit the road for the first time this season taking the short drive on U.S. 119 to Pikeville.

The Pirates, 2-1 on the season, are coming off an impressive 53-6 victory over Prestonsburg. Pikeville lost last week at Sheldon Clark by a score of 48-34. The Panthers are 1-3 on the season.

Belfry is heading into the game ranked No. 4 in Class AAA in the Bluegrass State.

Belfry continues to have a strong running game led by juniors Justin Johnson and Trinity Carr, along with senior Josh Robinson. Junior quarterback Sani Warren continues to improve and lead the Pirate attack.

The Pirates have a huge offensive line that helps open holes for the offense. The Belfry defense led by senior Tony Messer has also been strong.

Coach Chris McNamee will look to Austin Charles, Chase Hall and Austin Kidd.

In years past, this game was usually a toss-up. But in the last few seasons, the Pirates have dominated the Panthers.

Last year Belfry defeated Pikeville 55-14 at Haywood Field.

In other games in Kentucky Sheldon Clark (3-1) will travel to Perry Central, Phelps plays host to Montcalm, W.Va. at Vipperman Stadium in Belfry, Pike Central is a Prestonsburg and Shelby Valley is at MaGoffin County.
