A young woman from Hardy was killed Sunday afternoon in an accident that involved two other vehicles, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Jonna Leigh Hatfield, 21, was traveling northbound through Belfry on U.S. 119 in a 2007 Dodge Caliber when she apparently lost control of her vehicle and crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic, a KSP report stated. Her car was struck in the driver's side door by a 1991 Ford F-250 driven by Bruce Tilley. Hatfield's vehicle was knocked back into the northbound lanes.

Tilley's vehicle went onto the shoulder of 0f U.S. 119 where he struck a 1994 Chevy pickup driven by James Allen Rose.

According to police reports, Rose was driving northbound on the southbound shoulder at the time of the accident.

Hatfield and Tilley were transported by ambulance to the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Hatfield was pronounced dead at the hospital. Tilley was treated and released.

Rose was uninjured.

The accident is still under investigation by KSP Trooper Jacob Stinnett.

He was assisted at the scene by Det. Jason Merlo, Trooper Donald White, the Belfry Fire Department and Appalachian First Response Ambulance Service.

Hatfield, a 2006 graduate of Belfry High School, was employed by Tug Valley Pharmacy and was a member of the Pinsonfork Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday with Bishop David Kilburn and Larry Blackburn. (See Page 6 for a complete obituary.)
