PIKEVILLE, KY. - If you are a motorcycle enthusiast who loves to ride as well as support a worthwhile cause, then you are invited and encouraged to be a part of the “Trooper Island Motorcycle Run” scheduled for tomorrow, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. at the Pikeville Walmart.
According to information provided by Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 9 Director of Communications, Trooper Shaun Little, the benefit run will serve as a fundraiser for the 2013 Trooper Island, and will provide children who could otherwise not attend the annual camp the chance to do so.
The motorcyclists will leave the Pikeville Walmart shortly after 9 a.m., as soon as registration is complete ($15 per person). The riders will travel on Rt. 23 N to Rt. 80, and will make a stop at the Hazard Walmart. The next leg of the trip will take those participating along Rt. 15 and the Carrfork Lake, with the next break in the ride taking place at the Whitesburg Walmart. The group will then get back on Rt. 23 heading toward Jenkins, concluding their trip at the Pikeville Harley-Davidson dealership, where they will be treated to a luncheon of pulled pork.
Door prizes will be awarded and commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase. All proceeds collected from the benefit will go toward the operational costs of the Trooper Island Camp.
For more information regarding this event, you may contact Trooper S. Little at the Post 9 of the KSP by calling 606-433-7711.
