Pike County Central has named three new coaches. The announcements came on Tuesday at a press conference held at the school.
The new football coach will be Shawn Thacker. He replaces John Chapman, who resigned to become an assistant coach at Perry Central.
Thacker comes from Pikeville High, where he served as an assistant coach for the Panthers. He is a native of Johns Creek, so this is like coming home for the Pike County native.
The Hawks also have a new boys’ and girls’ basketball coach. Belfry graduate Keith May was named to that position after the resignation of Kelly Carwile.
Derek Newsome will take over the girl’s program. The squad was coached by Wes Hatcher last season. Newsome is the former head coach at Allen Central.
Thacker will have to hit the ground running as practice starts in a few days in the Bluegrass state.
Local fans will definitely see these coaches a few times since PCC is in the same district as the Belfry Pirates.
