The daughter of former Belfry High School basketball player Tammy Vipperman Clark is continuing to flourish in track and field.

Alexis Clark is a rising star in the shot put, discus and javelin throws.

Her most recent accomplishments for last week include winning the AAU Club Championship gold medal in three events and earning All-American in each. Those events and the distances for each are as follows: Shot Put - 46’11.5”

Discus - 114’01”

Javelin - 100’06”

The shot put throw set a new AAU Club Championship record for the 14 year-old division. She now holds three meet records for these games. She also holds the record for the 12 year-olds shot put and discus that she set in 2012. Alexis’ most impressive win was the javelin. She asked for a javelin for her birthday in May and has only practiced with a coach four times. This year Alexis participated for the Prince William County Panthers AAU Club team based in Woodbridge, Virginia, but her mother is still her main coach.

Alexis is undefeated in shot put in all levels of competition since she was 9-years old and has only lost once in discus and that was last year in the State Games of America in Hershey, Pennsylvania. This past middle school season, Alexis broke six school track and field records:

Shot put, discus, 100m dash, 200m dash, 4x10 relay, and the 4x200m relay. Next year, Alexis will be a 9th grader at James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she will play football, basketball, and track.

Her mother Tammy was a standout women’s hoop player in the 1980s at Belfry High School. She was a young 7th grader on the Lady Pirates 1984 state runner-up team. Tammy is a a BHS Hall of Famer.

Her great-grandfather was Al “Bearmeat” Vipperman, the former football coach for BHS. Her great-grandmother was Alma Vipperman, the former principal at Blackberry Grade School. Her grandmother is Martha Vipperman Roberts of Belfry.
