The Chapmanville 9-10-year-old Little League all-stars advanced in the District 2 tournament at Madison on Tuesday night with a 20-6 win over Tug Valley.


The victory moved Chapmanville (3-1) into Wednesday night’s matchup with Pineville (2-1) for the second seed and the right to play in the upcoming state tournament.


Madison (3-0) secured the District 2 flag and the championship with an 8-2 win over Pineville on Tuesday night. Madison has already punched its ticket to the state tourney.


No further information or statistics were available on either game.


Chapmanville beat Tug Valley twice in the district tourney, also scoring a 20-11 win on Saturday. Chapmanville then lost 10-0 to host Madison on Sunday and came back Monday night with a 10-0 win in four innings over Welch.


Tug Valley finished the tournament with a 2-2 mark.


Chapmanville is the host of next week’s 11-12-year-old tournament at Tracy Vickers Field.


Only seven teams are in the field: host Chapmanville; Tug Valley; Pineville; Madison; Welch; Man; and Mullens.


Chapmanville’s 11-12 all-stars open the tourney against county rival Man on Tuesday, July 8 at 6 p.m. The tournament is set to begin on Monday with the Tug Valley-Pineville game at 6 and the Madison-Welch contest at 8.
