The 15th Annual Hatfield-McCoy Marathon could have runners from all 50 states and some from Canada. To date, runners from 44 different states have registered for the popular marathon.

The run will be held on Saturday, June 14 and has continued to grow. More than 900 runners have now registered for one of the races. There is the full 26.2 mile marathon, two half marathons, the 5-K race and a kid’s run.

Once again the number of registered runners has broken a record for the ever-growing marathon.

Several local runners have also registered for the race.

As usual, the marathon starts at Food City 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The route runs through and by some of the locations of the famous Hatfield – McCoy Feud. It runs up Hardy Mountain, down Blackberry Creek, into downtown Matewan, down Rt. 49 on the West Virginia side of the Tug River, back into Kentucky across the Sprigg (Massey) bridge and ends on Second Avenue in downtown Williamson.

The 13.1 mile half marathons can start at Food City, or in Matewan. The 5-K will start at Food City and also end in Williamson.

If you are looking for the next 5-K in your community, then check out the Jeannie Rivard run during the Hatfield-McCoy Marathon weekend of races. The 5-K run has been named after the late Jeannie Rivard, who was a runner and volunteer at some of the past races. She lost her bout with cancer a few years ago.

With a paid fee, runners will receive a T-shirt, a Mason Jar award and an awesome participation medal.

Runners can register online or visit the Coal House or the Mingo County Diabetes Coalition to register also.
