PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – The Belfry Pirates lost their second game in a row as they were shutout 5-0 at Johnson Central on Monday.
The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning with two outs as Chaynse Hill doubled to center and scored on an RBI single to center field by Blake Gamble.
Johnson Central added to their lead with two more runs in the 4th inning. Jordan Young led off with walk, then Geordan Blanton lashed a single to center. Then Hill smacked a 2-run single to left field to give his team a 3-0 lead.
JCHS got some insurance in the 5th inning as Zach Slone reached safely on an infield error by Belfry. Then Juwan Mayes stroked a single to left and Slone scored on throwing error. Young then cracked an RBI single to left field to give the home team a 5-0 advantage.
For Belfry, senior infielder Reed Williamson had a pair of singles, Zac Fields had double, Dustin Jewell had a double and single, while Keaton Taylor and Caleb Stanley both had singles.
Josh Hitchcock was the winning hurler for the Eagles, while Fields suffered the loss for the Pirates.
The Phelps game at home scheduled for Tuesday was postponed because of the snow and moved to today, weather permitting. The first pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
