RED JACKET – The Kentucky squad for the 2nd Annual Consol Senior All-Star game this Saturday is loaded with size and talent.
The squad was put together by Shelby Valley coach Jim Hicks and included 6’11” center Cody Belter who played for Hicks at the Pike County school. His teammate Tyler Carr, a guard, is also on the team.
Three members of the Sweet 16 runner-up team Scott County High School are also on the Bluegrass roster. They include Trent Gilbert, Tony Martini and Teddy Ware.
Martini, a 6’3” forward, was chairman of the boards at the Sweet 16. The senior had 13 rebounds in the semifinal win over Trinity, and 17 in the loss to Covington Catholic.
Scott County finished 35-4 this season.
A couple of other top-notch players from the region Dylan Meade, a guard from Betsy Layne and 6’5” shooting guard Wesley Noble from Breathitt County will also suit up for Kentucky.
Meade helped lead the Bobcats to the All-A state tournament.
Other players included Brandon Hatton from Dixie Heights, Troy Steward of Fleming County, Chris Hudson and Josh Hollan of Hazard and Jordan Fox of Jackson County.
