GLEN HAYES - Tug Valley won its first softball game of the year out-slugging Tolsia 18-14 at THS.

Olivia Ooten went 3 for 5 with a single, double and 2-run homer. She scored 4 runs and also had a walk.

Briana Shrum took the win on the rubber giving up 12 hits while walking 8 batters and striking out one.

“Our ladies took the field with big smiles and were ready to have fun. Those positive attitudes led to success both defensively and offensively tonight,” said assistant coach Brandon Bowen. “Our bats really came alive from the top to bottom and it was capped off with Olivia hitting a homer to deep center.”

“Coach Perry, Coach Watkins and I couldn’t be more proud of the drive and determination these girls show every game and practice,” Bowen added.

Skylar Varney had 4 singles and 4 runs scored and also drew a walk for the Lady Panthers.

Shurm, Marissa Manns, Alison Hanson, Daisy Wallace and Lauren Ferris all had a hit for TVHS.

“I would like to add that senior Marissa Manns closed out the game by catching two long shots into the outfield,” Bowen concluded.
