BRADSHAW – Gilbert native Gherig Justice is the new head coach at River View High School in McDowell County.
River View is a consolidation of the old Iaeger and Big Creek High Schools.
The new era came after former head coach Mitch Estep, who guided the Raiders the first three years of the school’s existence, retired. Estepp had been the head coach at Iaeger for several years before the consolidation.
Justice graduated from Gilbert High School and was a lineman on their 1995 Class A state championship team. He had been an assistant at Gilbert under his former head coach Gordon Carter, before moving to River View.
His brother Garin Justice is the head coach at Concord College. Garin played at West Virginia University and was a starter on the offensive line.
River View has made the West Virginia Class AA playoffs each year they have stepped onto the gridiron. Justice said he hopes the run will continues. The Raiders may play a different style of football.
Justice said he likes the wing-T offense; however he will run whatever type of personnel he has, so the offensive style could change from year to year.
River View won their season opener 28-0 last week and will take on Buffalo in their first home game this Friday.
