KERMIT – Author Casey Bond will be holding three book signing events in the area starting this weekend at the Kermit Fall Festival.
She will be at Kermit Fall Festival, on Main Street, at 11 a.m.
Local author and journalist Kyle Lovern will also be at the Kermit Fall Festival. Lovern’s most recent book is Memories of the Tug Valley,” which includes old nostalgic and historical pictures of the area. Many of the pictures in the book are from the Kermit area, including some sports photos.
Lovern has also written two books on Appalachian UFO Sightings and is currently working on two more books, including Volume 2 of Memories of the Tug Valley.
Bon will also be at the Matewan W.Va. Homecoming at the Matewan Depot Replica, starting at 12 noon on Saturday, September 14 and again at Prince Grocery in Dingess, W.Va. from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on September 28.
Bond, a resident of Milton, WV, will be available to sign copies of her book, Winter Shadows.
Bond’s Winter Shadows is a coming-of-age story following Claire, a young lady who is struggling to find her place in the world after losing her mother to cancer. After a corrupt American government declares a pandemic and forces its residents into quarantine encampments, Claire and her father, along with other members of her church and community, go into hiding in a cave system in rural West Virginia. While coping with the losses of her mother, home, friends, sense of safety and normalcy, Claire begins to pick up the pieces of her past, finding a new normal despite the darkness that surrounds her.
