Muscle cars began rumbling into Williamson Saturday morning to compete in the King Coal Car Show. The event was re-scheduled after it was rained out last weekend.

Dave Rockel and his wife Connie have coordinated the event for the last several years and they are hoping to have a lot of cars compete this year.

“Last year, we had 100 cars. This year, we are afraid having to reschedule will hurt participation,” said Rockel.

Rockel designed unique trophies this year, they have oil filters, pistons and some have moving parts, these are one-of-a-kind and the competitors all want to win one.

Action In Mingo (AIM) President Jada Hunter was on hand and was very pleased with the turnout. “All but two of the vendors who said they would be here are here. Everything looks great and we have a lot of people out to enjoy the day.”

Former AIM President Mae Stallard was with Hunter and the two were planning to take a ride through town on the train, then visit with friends and neighbors checking out the thirty or so vendors on Logan Street.

Jason Murphy was set up to provide recorded music and Katie Curry is set to perform Saturday afternoon.

The winners of the car show will be announced as information becomes available.
