Pike deputy facing drug charge

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) — An eastern Kentucky sheriff’s deputy has been relieved of duty after being arrested on a drug charge.

WYMT-TV reports Pike County sheriff’s deputy Matthew Blanton was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree trafficking of a controlled substance.

Operation UNITE Director of Law Enforcement Paul Hays says Blanton was with another man who sold Oxycodone to an undercover officer.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Blanton has an attorney.
