YATESVILLE LAKE – Brandon Staten won the recent Tug Valley Bass Anglers tourney held April 14 at Yatesville Lake.
It was the group’s second tourney of the season. There was a great turnout with 39 anglers competing in the event.
Yatesville Lake was full pool and the water was in good shape with stained conditions on the entire lake and a temperature in the low 60’s.
The weather for the tournament was good with 85 degree air temperatures and partly cloudy skies. The wind however was a little rough with sustained winds of 15mph and gusts of 25 to 30.
The fishing for this tournament was pretty tough and the wind didn’t make it any better. The fish were in pre-spawn mode, they were on the shallower banks around their spawning areas and were relating to any available wood cover.
The main pattern for this tournament was to fish crank baits, spinner baits and crawfish imitations around laydowns in 1 to 5 feet of water.
