During her brief time in the county, she visited the Mingo County Air Transportation Park at Varney. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the Congresswoman with the many progressive economic development projects underway in West Virginia's southern counties. Those on hand to greet her were State Senator H. Truman Chafin, Everett Hannah, Charles Justice, Mike Mitchem, Executive Director of the King Coal Highway Authority, and Steve Kominar and Leasha Johnson from the Mingo County Redevelopment Authority.The Congresswoman started her tour in Wayne County and ended in Mercer County.
