NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - WVU Tech men’s basketball senior guard Brandon Burgraff was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-American second team, the league office announced Tuesday.

The Matewan, W. Va. native is a three-year starter for Tech at shooting guard, and is having a career year as a senior. Nearly all of his career highs have come this year. Burgraff is averaging 15.2 points per game, the second best on the team and leads in points scored with 426.

“He is one of the best shooters I have ever had,” head coach Bob Williams said. “We think he is one of the best three-point shooters in the NAIA.”

Burgraff is 40.3 percent (91-for-226) from the three-point line this 2013-14 season, ranking fifth in the Nation (NAIA DI) for total three-point field goals made and sixth for three-point field goals made per game (3.345). The senior is also ranked 17th in the USCAA for three-point field goal percentage.

“It feels really good, but it is humbling,” Burgraff said. “It all goes to my teammates. They have the confidence in me to get me open looks, and luckily I have been able to knock down a few.”

On the season, Burgraff had five or more three-pointers in a game seven times and at least 15 points on 16 occasions.

His 31 points and 10 three-pointers made Nov. 19 vs. WVU Parkersburg and eight free throws made Nov. 30 vs. Fairmont University were all career-highs.

For his career, Burgraff has played in 83 games as a Golden Bear scoring 910 points and going 214-for-538 (39.7 percent) from the three-point line.

Burgraff and the rest of the Golden Bears begin A.I.I Tournament play 8:00 p.m. Friday at Life University in Marietta, Ga. No. 4 ranked Tech will face No. 5 ranked Allen University (S.C.).
