NAUGATUCK – Belfry outscored Tug Valley 29 to 14 in the second half to pull away with a 45-26 victory Monday night over the Lady Panthers at the TVHS gym at Naugatuck.


Emily Baker and Airiel Mounts each scored 10 points to lead the Lady Pirates, while Jaden Cisco added 9 points. Paige Goff had 11 rebounds to go with her 5 points. Robbie Brewer chipped in 6 points for Coach Kevin Deskins.


Taylor Parsley and Katie Robinson led TVHS with 5 points each, while Hannah Armstrong and Emily Baisden each scored 4 for Coach Maxine Colegrove.


Tug Valley committed 23 turnovers, compared to 10 for Belfry.


Tug Valley is playing without starting point guard Adreana Vance, who is out with a hamstring injury.


BHS made 16-51 shots from the floor for 31 percent, including 5-14 from behind the arc. They were only 8-23 from the foul line for 35 percent.


TVHS made 12-46 from the field for 26 percent, including 2-10 from 3-point land. The Lady Panthers were 0-5 at the free throw line.


Belfry (8-9) is scheduled to host Shelby Valley on Thursday night, while Tug Valley dropped to 3-9 and is slated to host Sherman Thursday night, weather permitting.
