NAUGATUCK – The Tug Valley Panthers held on to beat Cross Lanes Christian 44-39 on Friday night at the TVHS gym.


Tug Valley took a 19-8 first quarter lead, however Cross Lanes battled back to cut into the lead in the second quarter.


The visitors outscored the Panthers 21-17 in the second half to make the game close. Cross Lanes tied it at 36-36 late in the game.


Thomas Baisden was the only Tug Valley player in double figures with 16 points. He also pulled down 6 rebounds. Calvin Blankenship scored 9 points, while Shane Marcum and Hayden Sturgell each scored 6 for Coach Garland “Rabbit” Thompson’s squad.


Austin Baisden led the team with 7 rebounds, while Blankenship dished out 5 assists and Sturgell 4.


Brock Norman led Cross Lanes with 14 points, while Zack Matheny chipped in 9.


Tug Valley is scheduled to travel to Man on Tuesday and host Greater Beckley Christian on Friday.

NAUGATUCK – The Lady Panthers downed Cross Lanes in the preliminary game 47-31 on Friday night.


Hannah Armstrong led TVHS with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Savanah Wilson scored 12 points and Katie Robinson added 10. Adreana Vance retured from a hamstring injury to chipe in 9 points.


Tug Valley will play host to Chapmanville on Monday.
