POCA - Hannah Church tallied 17 points and Ashley Curry chipped in 14 as Mingo Central posted a 43-40 girls basketball win at Poca Monday night.

Freshman Tyshira Joplin added 6 points, Kiearia Hammond had 4 and Kaitlyn Day added 2 points for the Lady Miners.

Church hit 4-of-5 of her 3-point shots. “She had one of her best all-around games of the season,” said Mingo head coach Clay Campbell. “We played real well in spots then started the third quarter slow. Turnovers hurt at times, but I am very proud of them winning on the road.”

The Lady Miners are now 6-6 on the season and will travel to Herbert Hoover tonight. The road win was a good Cardinal Conference victory for coach Campbell’s squad.

McKenzie Ball netted a team-high 14 points for Poca (3-9), while Harley Hutchins added 11.
