Chapmanville 57, Scott 55


Zac Casto hit a free throw with 7.3 seconds remaining to complete a three-point play as Chapmanville outlasted visiting Scott 57-55 Friday in boys basketball.


Josh Butcher paced the Tigers (6-1) with 17 points, while Kenny Plumley added 15. Logan Webb scored 14 points for the Skyhawks (5-3).

Pikeville 84, Belfry 62


PIKEVILE, Ky. - The Pikeville Panthers clawed the Belfry Pirates 84-62 on Friday night at the PHS gym.


Gaige Ray led Pikeville with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Blaine May fired in 23 points. May is the son of former Belfry player and assistant coach Denny Paul May. Zack Huffman added 16 for the Panthers.


Garrett Fannin led Belfry with 14 points, while Trey Price and Dawson Isom each scored 10. Cole Bentley and Andrew Fletcher chipped in 7 apiece, while Bentl3y pulled down 7 boards.


The Pirates were cold from the floor only hitting 24-70 for 34 percent, including 4-18 from behind the arc. They were 8-12 at the free throw line for 67 percent. The Pirates only had 13 turnovers compared to 21 by Pikeville. However, their cold shooting cost them.


Pikeville was 29-47 from the field for 62 percent, including 5-8 from 3-point land. They connected on 21-26 from the stripe for 81 percent.


Belfry was scheduled to play Shelby Valley at home on Saturday night. They host East Ridge on Tuesday night.

Belfry 48, Pike Central 34


GOODY, Ky. - The Lady Pirates defeated Pike Central at home Friday night in a regular season district contest.


Junior Emily Baker led Belfry with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Paige Goff followed her with 12 points.


Tibbs led Pike Central with 11 points.


Once again Belfry shot poorly at the free throw line only making 13-34 for 38 percent. Coach Kevin Deskins’ squad made 18-51 shots from the floor for 35 percent and only 1-of-6 from behind the arc.


Belfry committed 16 turnovers, while Pike Central turned the ball over 32 times.


Belfry is scheduled to host Prestonsburg on Monday night and travel to Mingo Central on Thursday.
