Excitement in the air as preparations continue for the annual King Coal Festival .
The festival is held in downtown Williamson where it has been part of the community since the 1970s.
The Baby Pageant registration began Thursday, the Miss King Coal Beauty Pageant will be Sept. 13 and nominations are currently being accepted for Mr. King Coal, The Community Service Award and The Humanitarian Award. The list of events is long, offering something for all ages with food and games and everyone should be overwhelmed with the nostalgia of the event.

6 p.m. Registration - Pet Show, Cats and Dogs, Field House
7:30 p.m. - King Coal Bowl, Tug Valley High School, Naugatuck
7 - 10 p.m. – Lip-syncing Contest and Block Party, Williamson Health & Wellness Center

1:20 p.m. - Crowning of Mr. King Coal
1:30 p.m. - Entertainment, Mawmaw McCoy of the reality show “White Lightning” will be demonstrating churning, lye soap making, flat ironing, washboard laundering.
2 p.m. - Lit’l Coal Miner Costume Contest, Courthouse Steps, under the direction of Rachel Dove
2:30 p.m. - Greased Pig Contest, Second Avenue Bridge
3 p.m. - Rubber Duckie Race, Win $500. Second Avenue Bridge, Tickets $5 - Autism Association
4:30 p.m. - Parade Line-up
