A dead body was found Tuesday night around 11 p.m. in the Bias Branch area off state Route 17, near Jeffrey, in Boone County, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

The body has been identified as 54-year-old Venus Miller, according to Boone County Chief Deputy Chad Barker.

Miller had been missing for several days, possibly over a week, and was found by family members in a bedroom, Barker said.

“The case is still under investigation and a lot will hinge on the autopsy results,” Barker told the Coal Valley News. “There were no obvious signs of foul play, but the investigation remains open at this time.”

Barker did not release any additional details about the woman. Her body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Charleston for the autopsy.
