WILLIAMSON - Although no one exercised their right to file for the higher county positions such as prosecutor, judge, sheriff or commissioner on Thursday, several names have been added to other offices that will appear on the 2014 ballot.

According to Marlena Cisco of the Mingo County County Clerk’s office, Ralph Hall (Williamson) has filed for Senatorial Executive Committee; Frances Crawford (Williamson) will once again seek to return to her position as executive committeeman; Irene Toler of the Beech/Ben/Mate District has filed for the same title and Lester Hignite Jr. (Tug/Hardee) also announced his intentions to run for the executive committeeman position for his district.

Helen Stanley (Williamson) has filed for the position of Conservation District Supervisor.

The deadline to file for office is Jan. 25, which falls on a Saturday. The Mingo County Clerk’s office will remain open that day to accommodate those who decide to wait until the final date permitted before filing their intention to run.

For more information on the filing process or a complete list of candidates and the seats they are seeking, you may contact a county clerk employee by calling 304-235-0330 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For a list of those who have filed for state office, you may visit the West Virginia Secretary of State’s website.
