WILLIAMSON - Judging by the number of criminal complaints obtained from Mingo County Magistrate Court, law enforcement officers in the county have been quite busy lately, as numerous arrests have been recorded.
Allen Layne Turner, 43, of Red Jacket, was taken into custody by West Virginia State Police troopers D.M. Williamson and D.L. Contos on charges of obstructing/resisting, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, failure to report a crash and no proof of insurance.
Betty Sue Wolford, 53, of Williamson, was arrested on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct and destruction of property by Williamson Police Department Sgt. J. Hall Jr. and patrolmen J.D. Tincher and J. Marcum.
Thurman Dwayne Hinkle, 40, of Delbarton, was arrested on a warrant obtained by Mingo County Sheriff’s Deputy E. Williams on a charge of felony burglary.
Shawn Bartley Queen, 33, of Wharncliffe, was placed under arrest by sheriff’s Deputy L. Thomas and C. Endicott after being charged with DUI. His blood alcohol allegedly was .158.
Summer L. Sowards, 29, of Frankfort, Ky., was arrested by Williamson Police Department Sgt. J. Hall Jr. and patrolmen J.D. Tincher and J. Marcum, and was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, destruction of property, battery and attempted escape while in custody.
Joseph W. Charles, 40, of Lovely, Ky., was taken into custody on charges of public intoxication, three counts of obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct by Williamson Police Department Sgt. J. Hall Jr. and Patrolmen J.D. Tincher and J. Marcum.
Christy Nicole Moore, 27, of Kermit, was charged with DUS/DUI and cellphone use while driving by Kermit Police Chief E. Chambers.
Kevin Lee Jeffrey, 46, of Dingess, was arrested by state Trooper J.D. Matheny on charges of domestic assault and domestic battery.
Gideon Shane Starr, 26, of Williamson, was arrested by sheriff’s Lt. J.D. Ferris and Deputy M. Mounts on charges of domestic battery against his girlfriend.
Pernell M. Kidd, 50, of Ragland, was placed under arrest by state Trooper J.R. Tupper and Senior Trooper T.G. Kania III after being charged with DUI, failure to maintain control, improper registration, no proof of insurance and driver’s license revoked due to a conviction on a charge of DUI.
All defendants were arraigned by a Mingo County magistrate and will be appearing in court for their preliminary hearings.
