INEZ, Ky. - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is still investigating a fire that killed three people on Saturday, August 16, in Inez, Kentucky.
The call came in at 4:20 a.m. to KSP Post 9 in Pikeville, Kentucky of a residential structure fire in the Martin County community.
Kentucky State Police Detectives, the Post 9 Arson Investigator, and the State Fire Marshall’s office were on scene at the residence this weekend.
According to the preliminary investigation, three bodies were found deceased in the residence. Those bodies will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s for autopsy and identification.
Some media reports stated that neighbors heard a loud explosion before the fire broke out. The neighbors attempted to enter the dwelling, but it was just too dangerous as the fire spread quickly throughout the house.
The investigation is still ongoing and is being investigated by Detective Tony Tackett.
