HARTS CREEK - A search for a stolen ATV Side-By-Side that was conducted by the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department ended in a remote location of Logan County, and produced positive results.
According to information provided by Mingo County Sheriff’s Department Cpl. Norman Mines, a Polaris RZR that had been reported stolen during a string of burglaries that spanned from Maher to Marrowbone was recovered from a home on Harts Creek in Logan County. Also discovered during the search of the premises was another ATV that had been reported stolen from Boone County.
Mines told the Daily News that he does not believe the homeowner, who is handicapped, is connected to the thefts, and said he assisted in providing information to law officers concerning the identity of the person/persons who brought the stolen goods to his home.
The investigation into this case, as well as several others that are believed to be linked to other burglaries reported in Mingo County, remains open and the officer is confident that arrests will soon take place. West Virginia State Police troopers from the Logan Detachment assisted with the search.
If anyone has any information or knows the whereabouts of items stolen from these locations, they are urged to contact Mines or another member of the sheriff’s department by calling 304-235-0300. The informant’s identity does not have to be disclosed to provide a tip. The officers are only interested in the information.
