WILLIAMSON - The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance to help solve a rash of daytime burglaries that has occurred over about the last 30 days.

Sheriff’s Chief Field Deputy Joe Smith told the Daily News that several items have been stolen from yards, garages and storage buildings of homes located between the communities of Marrowbone and Naugatuck, and are believed to be the work of the same person/persons due to the similarities of the types of merchandise stolen, as well as the fact that they have all occurred during the daytime, while many homeowners are at work and the homes are empty.

Some of the items that have been reported missing by the homeowners include a generator that was stolen off a porch in the Marrowbone area, four wheels and tires from East Kermit, a Stihl-brand weedeater and a Craftsman-brand plow from two residences in the Naugatuck community and flex-duct work out of the bed of a truck parked at Belo.

If anyone has information concerning the name or names of the people responsible for this string of thefts, or have heard of any of the above listed items available for sale. they are urged to contact Chief Deputy Smith at the sheriff’s office, 304-235-0300. You do not have to reveal your identity if you feel uncomfortable about it and would rather remain anonymous. All the officers are interested in is the information you may have that would lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
