Judy (Judy1Ju) Batts
59 years old, female, married, on my way up ... but not there yet
My husband and I were Salvation Army Officers
stationed in Williamson from 1974 to 1978. We made so many friends while we were there. I still keep in contact with some of them. I remember Jim VanZant, Lorrayne Corea, Dimple Scott & Mr and Mrs. Ball at the Western Auto store. During the flood of 1977, the water department & the fire department were so good to us. Our son, Kevin, was born there at Appalachian Regional Hospital. I had never seen a mountain goat before I moved there and I was fascinated when we went down 52 towards Welch and they would be in the middle of the road. My husband and I were Majors when we left The Salvation Army. One of our last appointments was in Washington DC This was OK for us but not for our children. We left and moved to my home town to get our kids throught High School. I work at a bank now and I'm very happy because I see people all day. My husband has leukemia and diabetes and is not able to work now. Our three children are all grown up and I have 2 grandchildren, Jackson & Jay. I think of our time in Williamson as many, many good memories. I would welcome talking to our many friends that we made there. |
