Two men are in the Southwestern Regional Jail, facing charges related to the abduction and sexual abuse of a Williamson man.

Jerry Fields, 21, of Williamson, and Jimmy Hatfield, 25, of Rawl, were arrested by members of the Williamson Police Department Saturday after the 21-year-old victim was transported to Williamson Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained during the alleged incident.

According to the criminal complaint, Fields and Hatfield “had intent to maliciously maim, disfigure and disable” the victim by tying extension cords around his genitals causing bruising and swelling. The men then repeatedly kicked the victim in the head.

The public record further states that Hatfield continued to sexually abuse the young man, rubbing his genital area across the victim’s face, while he was unconscious and unable to leave at will.

Hatfield aided Fields during the malicious wounding and sexual assault, as well as, video taping and taking pictures of the incident, the complaint says.

According to Williamson Police Chief Roby Pope, a relative happened to show up at the apartment where the incident was taking place and transported the victim to Williamson Memorial, where he was admitted.

Fields was charged with malicious wounding, abduction of a person and first-degree sexual abuse. Hatfield was charged with accessory before and after the fact.

The men were arraigned in Mingo County Magistrate Court, where bond was set at $300,000 for each defendant, both of whom were transported to Southwestern Regional Jail where they remain.

The victim has been released from the hospital.

Editor’s note: The Williamson Daily News opted to refrain from publishing the name of the victim in this article due to the sexual nature of the alleged crime.
