TAYLORVILLE – Miner Mart & Grocery LLC of Delbarton was robbed Thursday at 1:30 a.m. by two men yielding a knife and a baseball bat.

Stacy Noe was alone working the third shift at the store and stocking the cooler when she realized two men had entered the building. When she turned, one of the men was standing behind the cash register.

Noe told the suspect he wasn’t allowed near the register, and at that point, he pulled out a knife and demanded that the register be opened. Noe attempted to talk the man out of it, but he told her to “shut up or I will kill you.”

Noe opened the cash register for the man, who then took approximately $350 in cash. The robber then instructed Noe to stand beside his partner while he took a case of Bud Light beer.

The other assailant did not speak much and mostly stood there, but he was holding a baseball bat.

Manager Robin Whitt said the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the matter, but she is glad that her employee was not hurt.

“I told her she did the right thing,” Whitt said. “You never fight with people like that. She did what she was supposed to do, and I’m thankful she wasn’t hurt.”

The robber who took the cash was reportedly a tall, skinny man wearing white basketball shorts, a red hoodie and a yellow bandana over his face. The other man was also wearing a hoodie and bandana on his face.

All of the events described were captured by a video security camera and have been viewed by law enforcement officials.
