GLEN HAYES - Dikembe Dixson had a triple-double leading a balanced Mingo Central squad to a 71-57 lead over Tolsia on Saturday night at Rebel Arena.
Dixson, a 6’7” junior transfer, had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists, including a pair of dunks.
Senior Alex Lee had 16 points and 6 rebounds, Dalton Hatfield chipped in 11, while Julius Hatcher and Mallie May each added 8 points for the Miners.
Stevie Hammond dished out 5 assists for MCHS.
Mingo Central jumped out to a 29-10 first quarter lead and led 45-24 heading into the dressing room at the half.
Coach Brad Napier played his JV in the final quarter allowing the Rebels to cut into what was once a huge Mingo Central lead.
“We played pretty good,” Napier said. “We had balanced scoring.”
“Dikembe had a good game and Booger (Alex Lee) played well again,” Napier added. “Dalton and Mallie both had good games.”
Tyler Stroud led Tolsia with 29 points, while Caleb Sturgell chipped in 11 for the Rebels.
Mingo Central is now 8-7 (5-4) in the Cardinal Conference. The Miners won’t play again until Thursday night when they will host Tolsia again in another make-up game. The squad’s four seniors Lee, Hatcher, Chase Hatfield and Spencer Wilson will be honored after the game.
