SPENCER – The Tug Valley Panthers won on the road Saturday night as they defeated Roane County 59-51 for the second time this season.
Senior Thomas Baisden led the Panthers with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Kyle Newsome and Austin Baisden each scored 9 points, while Calvin Blankenship chipped in 7 points and Hayden Sturgell added 5.
Tug Valley led 12-11 after one quarter, but the game was 28-28 at the half.
The Panthers and Raiders played even in the third quarter, but Tug Valley was able to pull away in the final period outscoring Roane County 18-10 to come away with a hard-fought win.
Eugene Meadows led the Raiders (11-3) with 17 points, while Issak Wilmoth added 11.
Coach Garland “Rabbit” Thompson said he was proud of how his team played on the road and was able to pull out the victory.
Tug Valley was coming off two of their best performances of the season. They defeated Man easily at home this past Wednesday and Lincoln County on the road on Thursday.
Tug Valley is scheduled to host Cross Lanes Christian on Friday in a girls-boys doubleheader.
