Worker dies after fall at Harless Industrial Park

22 MINE ROAD - An employee of the Columbia Flooring Division of Mohawk Industries was pronounced dead Monday at Logan Regional Medical Center, after falling approximately 20 feet onto the ground from atop a truck hauling lumber at thei plant.


The company makes up part of the Harless Industrial Park located on 22 Mine Road, near the Mingo/Logan County line on U.S. Highway 119.


Although the name of the victim has yet to be released, details gathered from witnesses to the incident indicate that the reason for the fall is unknown, and the incident remains under investigation. The victim allegedly suffered a severe, traumatic injury to his head and neck.


Sources at the scene told the Daily News that immediate emergency medical care was administered to the injured man prior to the arrival of a unit from STAT Ambulance Service. He was taken to Logan Regional, where unsuccessful attempts were made to save his life.
