Rigney charged with murder in death of Ages woman

Kentucky State Police Det. Jason Joseph arrested George W. Rigney on Thursday evening on a charge of murder in the death of Jennifer Goddard, 34, of Ages.

The Kentucky State Police opened a death investigation Wednesday after receiving a call at 6:11 a.m. from Sweet Ball Lane in Ages.

KSP Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs said the call came in that an unresponsive female was found deceased in the kitchen floor.

Deputy Coroner Jim Rich sent Goddard’s body to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Rich said Goddard died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Rigney, 47, of Ages, was also charged with tampering with physical evidence.

He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with bond set at $500,000.

The case remains under investigation by Joseph.
