“for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord Thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.” (Deuteronomy 7:6)
The Lord revealed to Moses what He expected of his chosen people. He did not leave them in the dark as to what they must do in order for them to be the people He meant them to be. They were special! They were holy unto the Lord! They were chosen!
Everyone likes to be special to someone. Family and friends meet our need for earthly companionship, hoever, they can never take the place of our need for the fellowship we find only in God.
The Lord wants everyone to need Him.l He is “not willing that any should perish; (2 Peter 3:9) He loves us and is concerned about our well being. He has chosen us. We have only to choose Him as Lord of our lives, and then strive to live for Him each day. Our life will be truly meaningful only when we give Him first place in our hearts and lives.
As we think of how much the Lord loves us, that we can never repay him for His goodness to us, we should continually praise Him for His willingness to die in our stead.
The apostle John described Christ’s arrest and trials before Annas, Calaphas and Pilate. In his crucifixion, Jesus willingly fulfills John the Baptist’s prophetic words, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29)
Poem: God chose the people os Israel,
As His special people on the earth,
And He wanted them to know,
That to Him, they were of infinite worth,
And to every person,
Who accepts His only Son,
They too can know that they also,
Are a chosen one.
Prayer: Dear Father, Thank you that you have chosen me to be a child of God. Help me to be worthy of that honor. In Jesus holy name I pray. Amen.
